Week #50

We did something really bad today. We emailed Brody while we were at the lake water skiing. We sent him pictures and let him know it was the first trip of the year. He said that it looked really fun. Amie, told him, "just think, next year you will be with us." I must admit, I felt a little guilty.  Brody seems to be doing great. The work is moving forward. He is in an area that he seems to like. The heat is still getting to him on occasion. The confirmation ended up being in english rather than spanish. He felt that it went really well. Thanks for all of your support.

Well hello everyone, Well this past week was pretty busy. First of all we had a baptism on Saturday with Chris, Elder Pugh baptized him and I confirmed him the next day in sacrament meeting. During the baptism one of our investigators came up to us and told us that she is ready to be baptized so we set a date for the fourth of July! We are pretty excited about that. This past week has been super hot on our bikes I am pretty sure that it hasn't been below 100 any of the days! Another thing that I have realized this past week is that there is so much "chisme"or rumors in missionary work. Haha there is more drama than high school!! Sometimes it can get really annoying but it is whatever. This past week we have been seeing a lot of people. I went on exchanges with Elder Garbero as well. Not too much happened this past week and I forgot my planner so this email is really short. I love and miss you all! Have a great week and happy birthday to the best mother ever on July 2ndElder Jensen

Week #49

Well Brody has had a good week. He talked with us today about some great experiences this past week. He will be having another baptism this weekend. He told me that he is a little nervous. He was asked to do the confirmation. As you know, these take place in sacrament meeting. He will be doing it in spanish. I told him that is awesome. He let us know that it was ONLY 110 degrees today. He has yet to use sunscreen. As you can imagine, his mother is not very happy about that. He also sent some pictures that I will have posted on his blog. He is creeping upon that one year mark. Thanks for all of your support.

Well hello everyone, How are you all doing? I hope you are all enjoying your summer! Things here are going pretty well. First off, how about them warriors!? NBA champions! Steph Curry is the man! Anyways, this past week was pretty busy! So last Tuesday we went up to Fresno with a member and an investigator to the farewell for the missionaries that were going home! While I was there I got to see a lot of people that I haven't seen for a while including members and other missionaries! Our investigator that we took was Chris, he is a 17 year old boy. After the farewell we went to IN N OUT for dinner. On the way back to Lindsay, Chris looked at us and said, "So when am I getting baptized?" It kind of took us by surprise but we set a date and he will be getting baptized this Saturday! We are really excited for him and he is super solid! On Friday this past week we were invited by one of our recent converts to a bible study that someone was doing. So we thought that we would go and check it out. So we get there and it turns out that the lady was from the 7th day Adventist church. She just started reading scriptures out of the Bible and telling us that we didn't follow the commandments as a church. So she just kept looking up scriptures and giving her memorized recitation, I was getting sick of it so I just said, "Let's talk about the Book of Mormon, do you have any questions?" Then she tried to prove the Book of Mormon wrong but she couldn't! Haha so we read some scriptures out of the Bible and stumped her, she didn't know what to do. So she started to get angry and just tell us that we were wrong so we got out of there before she got too contentious! The next day we showed Meet the Mormons at the church and invited everyone to come, we had a good turnout with about 7 investigators and some less active members. And then the 7th day adventist lady walked in... haha she sat down and she watched the movie and then got upset because it showed a lady kick boxing and she said how bad it was. After the movie she was talking with some of the members in the foyer. And trust me, our members know the scriptures and our super strong, especially the hispanics. So she tried to bash with them and it did not go well... hahah but it was pretty fun! That is about all that happened! I love and miss you all! have a good week! Elder Jensen

Week #48

Brody is content with the fact that he gets to stay in the Fresno Mission. That's a good thing because we didn't want to have grandma make a new quilt.  He gets to finish up with Elder Pugh for his last transfer. He really likes the members in Lindsay. He got another haircut. This time he actually paid money and went to the barber. He had them shave a stripe in his head for the part. You can check those pictures out on his blog. Thanks for your support and prayers.

Well this past week was interesting for sure... haha we did something really really interesting. So this past week the great city of Lindsay held an activity for religious groups. So our bishop called us and told us that we could go and set up a booth at the activity. There were all kinds of religious groups there. We set up a booth with Book of Mormon's, pamphlets, and a couple of other things. The other groups had like a band and there were even old ladies dancing! It was absolutely nuts! They were just rockin out to Jesus and the old ladies were dancing with their flags, then an old lady was just sleeping on the floor because "the spirit just took her away" hahaha and then a guy was "speaking in tongues"!! I have never seen anything like it, Elder Pugh and I were laughing the whole time. A few people came to our booth, most of them wanted to bash with us and try to prove us wrong, it was hard to not pull out the bible and prove them wrong. But we did not want contention because then the Spirit can't be there. People were running around like crazy and they were also trying to quiz us on the bible! It was definitely an interesting experience to say the least! This past week we also received transfer calls and found out if we are going to the new mission or not... and I am staying in Lindsay with Elder Pugh. So I will not be going to the new mission in Modesto. Another thing that happened this past week is that we were riding our bikes and we saw a dentist place that was all shot up by a drive by in a car... we were there just ten minutes before and we drove by ten minutes after as well. We have a few investigators that we are really working with... they are both teenage boys. One of them came to church yesterday and the other one has a baptismal date for the 28th of June. Also this past week has been superrrrr hot!! i don't think that there has been a day where it has been under 100!! Well I love and miss you all! I hope that you all have a good week.

Week #47

Brody sounded pretty good today despite the temperatures being in the triple digits as of late. He was able to go on a little road trip today. I asked him what his gut feeling was about getting transferred and he feels he will stay in his current mission. That might just be wishful thinking. He will find out this Saturday. He sent some pictures besides the ones on this email. I will have them posted to his blog. Thanks for your support.

Hello everyone,
How is everyone doing? This past week has been pretty crazy out here. It has been a challenging one, that is for sure. I am trying to stay positive with our investigators but to be straight up and honest, they are all a bunch of BUMBS!! Haha I will give you a couple examples of how they are being difficult... so last week we found a mother and a son and they came to church and they told us that they loved it and wanted to keep coming and to be baptized. So we went over to visit them this week and the first words that she said were... "we don't think the church is for us" we then asked why and their excuse was that church was too long. I was just like, "3 hours a week is too long?" Another thing that happened is that we found a new investigator and taught him the 1st lesson, after that we tried by again and the neighbor told us that our investigator got thrown in prison haha. There is also a couple that we have been working with for months!! They fight a lot and we are working on getting them married, so when Elder Pugh was out of the area for exchanges I went to visit them and they were so happy and told us that they were getting married and then baptized. It was awesome! But then we came back two days later and the boyfriend had disappeared because they got into a fight. Now they don't wanna get married once again. It is really hard to see people want to change their lives because they are so sad but they won't even take the first step to do so. So we are really trying hard with our investigators right now. This past week we also received a training from the stake because the "book of mormon" musical is coming to Fresno. So they trained us on using it to help us instead of hurt us. This saturday we will get transfer calls and find out who is going to the new mission! it should be pretty crazy! Today a member took us to Kings National Park. There were some HUGE trees!! The pictures don't serve them justice but i will send a few. I love and miss you all! Have a good week and be safe! Elder Jensen

Week #46

Brody finds out in 16 days if he will be joining the new Modesto Mission. He has made it clear that he wants to stay in the Fresno Mission. He seemed a little down this week. He thinks we have forgotten about him. I am sure he would appreciate a mailed letter. He was happy to be busy working with new investigators. Thanks for all of your support.

Well pretty much nothing happened this past week because I was just emailing last wednesday! But since then we found a couple of new investigators. There is a lady named Roselynn and she has a son named Jacob. She has a friend that lives in Florida which called us the other day. She was baptized 14 months ago and told us to go and see her friend. Her friend which is Roselynn is really searching for the truth, we met her Saturday night and she came to church on Sunday and she told us that she wants to get baptized! We still need to keep working with her and hopefully she will be baptized in the coming weeks! She and her son are our biggest hope for a baptism as of now! We found some other new investigators as well this past week. I also went on an exchange with Elder Kane from Texas this past week. He is huge! he is like 6'7"! He goes home in two weeks, we had a lot of fun together! I guess some big news is that our mission president sent us an email and it said that Russel M. Nielson of the 12 is in charge of calling the missionaries to the Modesto Mission. We will find out on the 17th of June. All of the missionaries names go back to him and he will reassign each missionary! So it could really be anyone! It is kind of crazy! That is about it for this week! I love and miss you all!
