Week #41

Brody sounded a little more upbeat this week. He doesn't think that he is going to get transferred next week. He said that he is being fed dinner twice every night. No wonder he has gained 15 lbs.
He goes and eats at 5:00 and then again at 8:00. He said the members have nothing but want to feed you to let you know that you are part of their family.
He also sent a few pictures. They are on his blog. Thanks for your support.

Hello everyone,
Well this past week was super busy and we were always on the move. This past week I had two exchanges, one was with Elder Lybbert and that was a pretty fun one! The other exchange was with the Zone Leaders, I went to their area and worked with them. It is fun to be with other Elders and take a break from your companion! This past week I got to sit down with President Clark and have President's interviews. It was really cool and President Clark is awesome! We only meet with him like that 3 times a year. One thing that happened this past week is that while I was on exchanges I went to a priesthood thing in the other ward and after we played mini golf all around the church. It was a lot of fun! I guess the main thing that happened this past week is that on Saturday we got a call from one of the bishopric counselors and he asked us to speak last minute for sacrament meeting. It was in the Spanish sacrament meeting and the topic was obedience. I was super nervous but I think that it all went pretty well. We also got some investigators at church for the first time in a while. The work is still pretty slow but it should be coming along here soon. Also on Saturday it rained a lot!! We were at a parade and it was really wet. They were doing their annual celebration for the oranges here in Lindsay. That is about all that has happened this past week. This next week we have transfer calls, so we will see what happens with that. I love and miss you all! Have a great week!

9 Months

Brody seems pretty bored this week. He was a wealth of information this week…not. Hopefully things will pick up for him in Lindsay.
Thanks for the support.

Hello everyone,
How are you all doing? It sounds like things back at home are pretty crazy and that things are moving along! Here things are just about the same.  This past week we were super busy!!! We have Zone Meeting, Zone Conference and I had exchanges once again. Zone conference was a lot of fun! I learned a lot and it was good to hear from President Clark and what we need to do to have more success in our areas. For all of you who didn't know, President Clark is a super successful business man! So I feel that sometimes he runs the mission like a business haha but it is good because it is successful. I also got to see a lot of people at zone conference, like my old companion Elder Falslev! I talked to the elder serving in Coalinga and he told me that the Reyes family is still doing really well and that they are coming to church every week! It was so good to hear that from him!! As for our area now we are trying to talk to everyone on the streets and everyone is Catholic and I have never met a Catholic that believes the same thing as another Catholic. So we are working really hard. This week I will be having two more exchanges, one with Elder Lybbert from my MTC district and one with the Zone Leaders. One thing that hasn't changed about me is that I still like to tease people, for example I tease my companion all the time! hahaha he just laughs and never knows if  I am serious or not! We are still visiting the family that likes to feed us every night around 8. They are so nice and they have nothing. We found beds for the kids so they are not on the hard ground anymore. They are so humble and they tell us we are their family. They don't have much but they are always trying to share and help us out. I found out that they have to daughters in mexico that they haven't seen in 8 years because they don't have the money to get them over here. It broke my heart, they were showing me pictures of them on their phones. It shows me how blessed I have been in my life and that these people really need our help and to feel of God's love. They are always so happy and so grateful for every little thing. Well I love you all and hope you have a good week! Stay safe!

Week #39

Not a lot to report on our conversation with Brody this week. He wanted to know how the Warriors are doing and what went on for spring break. He is just LOVING riding his bike.

Well this past week wasn't too eventful. We had a few service projects in the community where we gave the needy some food.  I also had another exchange, I am going to have to have one every week this transfer because my companion is the district leader. I was on exchanges with an Elder from Chile. It was pretty good, it rained so hard that day though and we were on  bikes so it was soaking wet! It never rains here but when it does it really comes down. We also found a couple of new investigators here in Lindsay by talking to people on the streets. we are working with a couple of our investigators but there are just a few holdups. So a part member family just moved close to our apartment and we go over there almost every night to see how they are doing. They are hispanic and they ALWAYS feed us! Like we can't get out of there without eating! Every time I have seen the mom she has been cooking and making homemade tortillas. I didn't know you could eat so much with a tortilla. They put some of the weirdest stuff in there and they always eat tortillas with every meal. They are a nice family! But I feel bad for them and some of the people here. Like the kids have nothing and they have to sleep on the ground so we are working with the ward to get them beds. That is about it from the past week other than we attended a baptism with some other missionaries. I love and miss you all. Have a good week!

Week #38

Things were kind of strange this week. Brody informed us that he is really bored and that he loved conference. Go figure…
No pictures and not a lot to write home about. Hopefully things pick up for him in the new area.

Well this past week was not too eventful. We had district meeting and our district meeting is in Spanish. My companion is the district leader which means I will be going on lots of exchanges. I went on one last week with Elder Nofall he is from Mexico City and he is being trained. It was a good exchange, it is nice to get away from your companion every once in a while. The rest of the week we taught a few investigators and found a few new ones. We didn't have a whole lot of time to teach the past two days because of General Conference. But General Conference was awesome. It was so fun to hear from the church leaders and the prophet. We watched it at the church and after we went to a members house and they fed us. We eat a lot here... the members always make good food and expect us to eat a whole bunch haha. It is still pretty hot here, especially on the bikes. To be honest not a lot has happened this past week. So I hope you all enjoyed conference and are safe. I love and miss you all.
